Tinted to perfection

I took the Mitsubishi Outlander to the guy I trust, Sam at D&S Tint See ( http://www.dandstint.com.au) Sam actually did the tinting on my previous vehicle the Saab and did some great work today in good company with some great other cars including this wrapped Lotus and a very hot Suzuki. Always some choice cars in for high-end polishing and body coating as well as tinting. The tinting is done from computer generated cutting sheets and then very carefully applied. Confusing is when the the tailgate tint is first applied to the outside, heat gunned and then cut to size an applied inside. A professional job, done by a master of his trade. Great work Sam!

Some tweaking

I found some Rhino roof racks to suit the car on Gumtree Australia and fitted those last week. Over last weekend sourced a nudge bar from Eddy Wreckers and on Tuesday I took the car back to the workshop to have the blower fan examined and serviced as I discovered that it was noisy. The guys fixed that problem and also a poor fitting drivers side mudguard was fitted correctly and also the staff kindly fitted my nudge bar, which once I got home , I treated with Autosol and now looks quite ok.

The Saab has been sold for a younger woman, whoops, I mean vehicle.

A bit of history ....

I had thought for sometime that although I love my SAAB 93 2004 Sport Sedan , it was not getting any younger and that I needed to contemplate something younger and perhaps more of a SUV.
With many friends and relatives have similar vehicles I began to look around.  Toyota RAV4's  and Nissan XTrails and Subaru Foresters are in a similar price bracket for me. My friend Phil's Suzuki Grand Vitara was another option but again they are holding their value and are also being retained by their current owners.

I was curious as to how the name "Outlander" came to be chosen and found this on Wikipedia:

"The Mitsubishi Outlander is a mid-size crossover manufactured by Japanese automaker Mitsubishi. It was originally known as the Mitsubishi Airtrek when it was introduced in Japan in 2001, and was based on the Mitsubishi ASX concept vehicle exhibited at the 2001 North American International Auto Show. It was sold at Mitsubishi Japan dealership chain called Car Plaza. The ASX (Active Sports Crossover) represented Mitsubishi's approach to the industry wide SUV trend for retaining the all-season and off-road abilities offered by a high ground clearance and four-wheel drive, while still offering car-like levels of emissions, economy and size.^[1]

The original Airtrek name was chosen to "describe the vehicle's ability to transport its passengers on adventure-packed journeys in a 'free-as-a-bird' manner",^[2] and was "coined from Air and Trek to express the idea of footloose, adventure-filled motoring pleasure."^[3] The Outlander nameplate which replaced it evoked a "feeling of journeying to distant, unexplored lands in search of adventure."^[2]

The second generation of the vehicle was introduced in 2006 and all markets including Japan adopted the Outlander name, although production of the older version continued in parallel. It was built on the company's GS platform, and used various engines developed by Mitsubishi, Volkswagen and PSA Peugeot Citroën. PSA's Citroën C-Crosser and Peugeot 4007, which were manufactured by Mitsubishi in Japan, are badge engineered versions of the second generation Outlander.^[4]
